About the Author: Mathew Masters

Thank you for joining the conversation and becoming a part of this blog/ newsletter. Currently, I live in Miami, Fl. within 10 minutes of the rest of my very boisterous Cuban family.  My mother emigrated to the United States from Cuba in the mid-1960s shortly after the rise of Fidel Castro, raised five children, mastered the english language, and became a small business owner. My father was the son of two deaf European immigrants who was raised in New York City, and eventually graduated from the University of  Miami with the help of the G.I. Bill. I graduated from Florida International University with a degree in English and have worked as a bartender, freelance writer, and real estate broker  before founding my own business, Latin Touch, Inc.

I was born in Miami, Fl. but moved to Brooklyn, New York at a year old and stayed there long enough to fall in love with the New York Mets and New York Giants after they won the World Series and Super Bowl in 1986. A year later, at 8 years old I found myself in a strange new place called Florida. Twenty-three years later I am still here, and it is here where my love of the Caja China style Roasting Box was born…

The purpose of this blog is to establish a place online dedicated fully to Caja China style cooking. For those who are unfamiliar, we want to familiarize you. For those who have heard of it but aren’t sure what it is, we want to educate you. And for those who know and love it (myself included), we want to create a place where we can gather and share recipes, ideas, thoughts, and anything else that comes to mind. I consider myself to simply be the conversation starter. I enjoy sharing my knowledge, but look forward even more to the chance to learn from all of you.
